Pricing

Pass-through power pricing

GoGo Tech hosting is priced as two lines: the power rate for the site, passed through without markup, plus $0.01/kWh for management and operations. The operations fee stays put. The power line moves with the rate negotiated for that site.

Current rate

Power (pass-through) $0.035 / kWh + Ops fee $0.01 / kWh = $0.045 / kWh

This is the current rate on GoGo Tech sites. It is pass-through power plus the operations fee, not a bundled rate.

Pass-through power and the operations fee
Line itemWhat it isWho sets it
PowerThe kWh your MDU consumes, at the rate GoGo Tech negotiated, passed through without markupThe utility or power contract for that site
Management and operations$0.01 per kWh consumed, covering technicians who deploy and service your miners; operations software includedFixed at $0.01/kWh

The trade-off, stated plainly

  • With pass-through pricing, your cost follows the underlying power rate. When power is cheaper, you pay less. When it costs more, you pay more.
  • The $0.01/kWh operations fee doesn't change.
  • At Fort Worth, power is bought from the ERCOT wholesale pool at live-market rates through our Shell Energy PPA. You set a target rate, and the included software handles the rest (curtailing load during peaks, for example).
  • An all-in rate is predictable, but the provider's margin is built into every kWh. GoGo Tech does not quote an all-in rate.

Fort Worth is a 30 MW hydro-cooled site: 12 MW available now and an 18 MW second phase, sold as 2 MW MDUs. No commercial-operation month has been set.

'Hydro' refers to liquid (water) cooling of the miners, not hydroelectric power. Fort Worth runs on ERCOT grid power.

Worked example (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY; not a quote or an offer)

ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY. Not a quote or an offer. The only figures here taken from this site are the 1 MW MDU size and the $0.01/kWh operations fee. The power rates and the comparison rate are made-up round numbers to show the arithmetic. They are not the current rate.

MDU size: 1 MW (the North Dakota air-cooled MDU size). Load: full load, 24 hours a day, for 30 days. This is illustrative; real consumption is whatever the smart meters record, and curtailment lowers it. 1,000 kW × 720 h = 720,000 kWh.

Pass-through, illustrative power rate $0.040$0.040$0.010$0.050720,000 × $0.050 = $36,000 ($28,800 power + $7,200 ops)
Pass-through, illustrative power rate falls to $0.030$0.030$0.010$0.040720,000 × $0.040 = $28,800
Pass-through, illustrative power rate rises to $0.060$0.060$0.010$0.070720,000 × $0.070 = $50,400
Hypothetical all-in hosting rate $0.070 (for comparison)bundledbundled$0.070720,000 × $0.070 = $50,400 in every month

In every pass-through row, the ops portion is the same $7,200 (720,000 kWh × $0.01). Only the power line moves. The current rate is separate from this table.

FAQ

What is pass-through pricing?

Pass-through pricing is two lines. You pay the power rate GoGo Tech negotiated for the site, passed through without markup, plus $0.01/kWh for management and operations. The operations software is included.

What does the $0.01/kWh operations fee cover?

The $0.01/kWh fee covers management and operations, including technicians who deploy and service your miners. The operations software is included at no extra charge. The fee does not change when the power rate changes.

What is the current hosting rate?

Current rate: Power (pass-through) $0.035 / kWh + Ops fee $0.01 / kWh = $0.045 / kWh.

What happens to the bill when the power rate changes?

The power line moves with the underlying rate, so the bill goes down when power costs less and up when it costs more. The $0.01/kWh operations fee stays the same. Consumption is whatever the smart meters on the MDU record.

Is the worked example a quote?

No. The worked example is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY. It uses made-up round numbers to show the arithmetic. It is not a quote, not an offer, and not the current rate.
