GoGo Technologies LLC Commences Operations at Grid Power, an 8 MW On-Grid Mining Site in Williston, North Dakota

WILLISTON, N.D. — November 2024

GoGo Technologies LLC today announced that Grid Power, an 8 MW on-grid mining site in Williston, North Dakota, has entered operation.

The site is connected to the electrical grid. It is developed, owned, and operated by GoGo Technologies LLC and provides hosting capacity for blockchain mining equipment under the company’s management.

Operations commenced in November 2024.

Partners and grid programs

GoGo Technologies LLC partners with Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative for local distribution service to Grid Power. Mountrail-Williams Electric is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative headquartered in Williston and serving rural members in Mountrail and Williams Counties. Wholesale energy for this part of northwest North Dakota is supplied through the regional cooperative system: Basin Electric Power Cooperative, a generation and transmission cooperative, provides energy to a multi-state membership that includes Upper Missouri Power Cooperative and, through that membership, Mountrail-Williams Electric. Basin Electric has invested in Bakken-area reliability, including Pioneer Generation Station near Williston and the planned Bison Generation Station in Williams County.

Upper Missouri Power Cooperative, headquartered in Sidney, Montana, supplies wholesale electricity to eleven distribution cooperatives in eastern Montana and western North Dakota, including Mountrail-Williams Electric. Its wholesale cost structure is driven in part by coincidental peak demand — the interval when combined system load reaches its monthly or seasonal high. GoGo Tech participates in a coincidental peak curtailment program with Upper Missouri. Grid Power is integrated via API to receive peak-program signals and dynamically sheds mining load in real time when a coincidental peak window is signaled, reducing or curtailing site demand in support of regional reliability.
